History
The SVEWL league was formed in 1981 to promote youth wrestling in central Pennsylvania League dual matches are held on Sunday afternoons from early Jan to mid February. Dual matches run very similar to high school league matches. Each school has a "varsity" wrestler that represents their team at any one of the following weights: 50,54, 58, 62, 66, 70, 74, 78, 82, 86, 90, 94, 98, 102, 106, 110, 120, 130, 145, 170. Each match runs 1:00, 1:30, 1:30 periods and is scored as a scholastic match. Team points are scored as 3 points for a decision, 4 for a major decision, 5 for a technical fall and 6 for a true fall (pin). Each match is officiated by a PIAA licensed official, and results are turned in to the league president within 24 hours of the completion of the match. At the end of the season there is a varsity team tournament where each team once again sends a wrestler and competes for the title of league champion at his/her weight. Wrestlers that do not represent their team as a varsity competitor are given matches after the dual match is finished. Wrestlers from each school are matched according to weight, experience and ability.
